Incandescent Light Bulbs

Incandescent light bulbs are a type of lighting that produces light by heating a filament until it glows. They consist of a glass bulb filled with an inert gas, a metal filament, and two metal contacts at the base. When an electric current is passed through the filament, it heats up to the point where it incandesces, or glows, producing visible light. Incandescent bulbs are relatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, but they are not very energy-efficient, converting only about 5% of the electrical energy they consume into visible light, with the remaining 95% being lost as heat. Despite their inefficiencies, incandescent bulbs were widely used for many years and are still used in some applications today, although they are being increasingly replaced by more energy-efficient alternatives such as LED bulbs.
