175 Watt Metal Halide Lamps - Mogul Base
Metal halide light bulbs are a HID source for many indoor and outdoor lighting applications.
175 watt metal halide lamps with a mogul base are used in many applications like warehouses, security and other types of places where a lot of light is desired. They have a brilliant white light which is also very energy efficient. They're often used in color critical areas where the yellow color of high pressure sodium simply won't do. It's often used in security lighting, but has many other applications as well. This is the 175 watt version of a metal halide light bulb that has a mogul base which is the large industrial size base. It also comes in the medium base but keep in mind that the ballast is exactly the same. The only difference is the base. This is probably one of the lower wattages that is used for security lighting in the older style non-pulse start type of metal halide. It's been used for many decades and it has very little color shift and provides a lot of light output in a very small package. It's still very popular for certain kinds of fixtures that require an HID light that will work in a smaller light fixture. Of course, there are some LED options to replace this if you want to get more energy-efficient. But if that's not the case and you want to stick with what you have, we have these as replacement lamps readily available for many years to come. It also comes clear or coated white, and for some people eliminating that hotspot of light from the arc tube makes sense and so they choose the coated white version. The light output is functionally the same, it just helps protect eyes from a very intense spot of light if you look at it. If you replace this and you find it still won't go on, you probably have a ballast issue and you will need to replace that. You might not have to replace the whole ballast sometimes it's just the igniter. In whatever case, you will have to troubleshoot if it doesn't come on.
