50ER30 reflector flood light bulbs give you greater light than old style R30 flood lights. They project more light out into the space giving you better illumination than you had before. They have an elongated neck which makes them ideal for tight places where a fixture might be too small to accommodate a normal size light bulb. ER30 shape is called an elliptical reflector and was developed many years ago as an answer to give more energy savings over traditional incandescent flood light bulbs. Many people still use them in commercial applications but also in homes where they want to get a lot of light in an area but not too directed. They won't create the spotting effect that some lamps do. ER30 flood light bulbs are good solution for many types of applications that require a bulb that's and in between beam spread. These are an incandescent light source, so they're not really as energy efficient as a compact fluorescent is.
