ALR37 12 volt halogen light bulbs are used widely in many different types of lighting applications. You'll find them in specialty fixtures including display cases most often. These have a cover lens to protect from glass exiting at a violent failure. Although this only happens rarely, the lamps are often in proximity of more flammable materials making it a necessity.
